* Personal liability in case someone is injured while on your property
You can even customize your policy for your needs, adding additional coverage where needed, such as for:

* Artwork
* Coin or stamp collections
* Business equipment
You may also need special coverages depending on where you live. Do you live in a flood-prone area or and area subject to earthquakes or tornadoes? What company’s best for homeowner’s insurance – rate, coverage, response to claims?
So far I’ve been quoted $1,135/year on $140,000 coverage with $250 perils & $500 wind/tornado or $1,249/year on $155,000 coverage with $250 perils & $500 wind/tornado or $1,160/year on $155,000 coverage with $500 perils & $1,000 wind/tornado. Are any of these good?
I’m in Kansas.
NO way to know. If your house is actually going to cost $200,000 to rebuild, all of these quotes mean NOTHING.
I CAN tell you, there’s NO WAY I’d recommend a deductible as low as $250. I’d opt for $1,000 across the board, if you can get it.
Now, if you don’t ALSO add replacement cost on the building & contents, buildling ordinance or law, and backup of sewers and drains, you’re nuts.
In other words, you need to TALK TO AN AGENT about getting this, not anonymous people over the internet. YOu need to find out what coverages are AVAILABLE and RECOMMENDED.
And as far as what company’s best – there IS no one size fits all best. *I* think Erie Insurance is pretty great, but they dont’ write in Kansas, so what good does THAT do you?
